SUR 1 - Management of surface water run-off from developments

The Code for Sustainable Homes requires mandatory sustainable design principles for surface water run-off.

THE AIM IS:
To design surface water drainage for housing developments which avoid, reduce and delay the discharge of rainfall to watercourses and public sewers using SuDS techniques.

This will protect receiving waters from pollution and minimise the risk of flooding and other environmental damage in watercourses.

At A.L.I. Building Design Ltd we will provide all relevant calculations and information to enable completion of the SUR1 template of The Code for Sustainable Homes, which includes the following:

• Pre-development and post-development peak rate of run-off assessment.
• Calculations for rainwater run-off discharged to soakaways, watercourses, or other SuDS system.
• Calculations and sizing of rainwater harvesting systems, soakaways and attenuated systems.
